Curating Story Events

Story Gatherings

A Story Gathering is an oral storytelling event where people share personal stories on a shared theme. Gatherings are a powerful way to honour both endings and beginnings - marking moments like retirement, redundancy, changes in life stage, or the closing of a project. They also welcome and connect new groups in a genuine, human way.

The stories we tell ourselves and others help us make meaning of what has happened, accept change, and sometimes even discover gratitude for what we’ve lived through.

Organise a Story Gathering

Heartwood supports the full creation and curation of Story Gatherings. We help design the event, craft the messaging, and coach the storytellers so they feel confident, grounded, and ready to share the story only they can tell.

Regular Events

Salisbury Story Gathering

A story that carries one person through a difficult or happy time can become a map for someone else. Our aim is to create a space where those kinds of stories can be heard.

Our aims:

  • To build a welcoming community of both diversity and likeness

  • To entertain, provoke, and inspire reflection

  • To promote the art of personal storytelling

We meet in venues around Salisbury and invite listeners to hear stories that are deeply personal yet universal, stories that speak to what it means to be human. In a digital age filled with judgement and division, this is how we rediscover connection, grow empathy, and strengthen community.

Salisbury Story Café

The Story Café is where many storytellers first discover their voice. It’s a friendly, supportive space where we practise the art and craft of personal storytelling together.

We meet every third Saturday of the month, 10:30–12:30 at the Quaker Meeting House, 51 Wilton Road, SP2 7EP.

Whether you're curious, nervous, or ready to dive in, you’re welcome.
