Communication is at the heart of career success in every discipline and sector. We all need to create powerful connections inside and beyond our organisation. We need to persuade and inspire others to change. We need to communicate our ideas and passion in order to make our contribution in the world.
High-impact communication is about much more than the words we choose and the techniques we employ to deliver them. Far more important is that we know our purpose, speak from the heart and listen with a deeply felt awareness of the needs of others. That’s as important in communicating one to one as it is with groups large and small.
Through communication coaching, I help leaders and professionals discover their authentic purpose and voice and develop finely tuned listening. Clients build on their own natural style and strengths while developing the flexibility to adapt to the needs of others.We look at the stories leaders tell about themselves and those they want to share.
Only then might we work on delivery. I bring in techniques adapted from drama and storytelling to help clients use voice, breath and body to create presence. We would also look at ways they can use language to appeal to the way people think and learn.
I provide communication coaching one to one or in small groups. Coaching can address immediate challenges – an important presentation or meeting – or it can help develop communication capability over time.
This work is underpinned by solid research into effective interpersonal communication. It is highly experiential with plenty of chances to try out techniques that release confidence, energy and imagination.
